Our workshops are accredited with ACEM, ACRRM and RACGP and as well as accruing PDP they are eligible for the Rural Procedural Grants Program which provides financial assistance for procedural GP's/CMO's in rural and remote areas to access relevant activities in order to assist in maintaining or updating skills. A grant of $2,000 per day for a maximum of 3 days per financial year is available. Your application can be submitted to either ACRRM or RACGP for administration and must be approved before attending any education event.
Paediatric Emergency Medicine Simulation
Confront your greatest fears with a combination of neonatal to 7 year old clinical simulation scenarios encompassing a range of airway, breathing, circulation, neurological and trauma emergencies.
The only one day course in Australia that participants perform in 6 high fidelity, multidisciplinary complex paediatric simulations , and because of our maximum 3 to 1 student instructor ratio, you get to be the team leader and solo doctor managing the simulation at least twice in the day, and participate in all the others.
The course is run by a qualified APLS instructor and it qualifies for the Resus 4 kids Certificate, The Detect Junior Certificate.
Tweed Emergency Airway Management
This program has been written for Tweed Hospital Registrars and the aim is for participants to develop a thorough assessment and checklist approach to preparation for the management of the paediatric and adult airway. We commence with the hands on fundamentals of assessment, positioning, nasal cannula, chin lift, jaw thrust, BVM with airway adjuncts, LMA, RSI, Delayed Sequence Intubation and surgical airway. These all encompass “ The Vortex “ algorithm of airway management.
Byron Emergency Skills & Simulation
A 2 day course run for GP trainees commencing time in rural emergency departments and incorporates many of the essential fundamental life saving assessments and procedural skills requires for Emergency Departments doctors.
After these have been practiced, assessed and mastered we work on the teamwork skills of crisis resource management, then finish putting it all together with 4 high fidelity multidisciplinary simulations on the final day, encompassing paediatrics, adult medical, cardiac arrest and trauma.
Northern NSW Rural Emergency Medicine Skills & Simulation Workshop
The 1 day fundamental course that locks in all the essential ED procedures such as airway including surgical, chest drain insertion, easy io access, pelvic binders, C collars, equipment orientation, defibrillation, pacing, non-invasive ventilation, capnography, rhythm and ECG interpretation. Add in teamwork/ Crisis Resource Management and 4 multidisciplinary high fidelity simulations and you have 1 long day of learning, honing and skill building.
